How to Create a FREE Logo You Love!

It’s a new year so it’s time for a new (FREE) logo to brand all of your business goodies with! But, when you’re not a designer and aren’t in the position to pay for a custom logo, it can be hard to figure out what to do! Luckily, you’ve got some really great resources at your finger tips and I’m going to walk you through exactly how to do it in no time!

= Understanding Your Brand =

Before we get to designing, it’s important that we talk about your brand and what you want it to convey.

Things to consider when designing your logo:

  1. brand Colors

Always opt for colors that are easy to read and relate to your brand personality.

For example - A men’s lifestyle brand might choose bold colors like blue or green, while a makeup brand might go with softer tones like peach or pink.

Colors can also have meaning that impacts how a consumer feels about your brand. They can also motivate action - so choose wisely! If you want to learn more about color theory and what colors mean - check out this article.

  2. brand typography aka fonts

When choosing a font it’s really, REALLY, important to choose one that matches your brand personality and is easy to read. If you can’t read your logo easily when it’s on your website or social media pages - why have one at all?

Here’s an example - let’s look at two different logos for a dental office:

The color impact between them is vastly different! Red tends to communicate pain, especially in this context, whereas the blue appears more calming and gives a feeling of safety.

The font selection on the left is very approachable yet childish, and the left appears more professional.

Color, fonts and icons are all important elements you should think strategically about when designing your logo, but let’s get on to the fun stuff!
